At least 20 people died in Mexico City after a long train line collapsed Monday night, according to the city mayor.
A train belonging to the town’s subway service fell to the ground after an overpass was delivered. At least 49 people were taken to the hospital, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said at a press conference. according to Mexico’s news service Telediario.
“There are children of the dead,” Sheinbaum said, according to the Associated Press. Sheinbaum said there may still be people trapped on the train, the AP reported.
Mexico City’s subway system is one of the busiest in the world, according to the AP.
