Are you disappointed with what Ford said F-150 Lightning Will it provide an estimated 300 miles in size at its highest level? You may have no reason to have so many. Ford said YouTuber Marques Brownlee that the EPA’s estimated range for the electric pickup truck factor is at 1,000lbs of cargo – you can get most of it with a lighter load. Brownlee saw the 367 mile estimated range of an empty F-150 Lighting Platinum with 80 percent charge, and estimated that a full charge would destroy about 459 miles.
The company has already mentioned that the truck has a measuring system at the rear to hit coverage estimates based on weight.
Ford did not say why the hands-on F-150 model claims to be even bigger, or if that long life is sure to be carried by production units. As Brownlee suggests, however, it can take anxiety out of the equation. You need to get the quoted driving distance in many conditions, not just ideal situations with an empty bed. That’s important for workplaces that need to be counted in that coverage, of course, but it could also be important to accept for one of the first mainstream electric trucks.
There may also be a fierce competition. Rivian is also looking for 300-plus miles for the R1T, and 400-plus in early 2022. The Tesla Cybertruck also willing to offer at least as many variations of its motor. A conservative estimate on Ford’s part could help the electric F-150 fare well against its most obvious rivals, even as they introduce longer versions in the future.
